Hood Container Announces USD $ 118.9 Million Modernization Project at Historic Paper Mill in St. Francisville
Hood Container Corporation, a family-owned packaging and paper company, announced an investment earlier this year of USD $ 118.9 million to modernize its long-standing paper mill in West Feliciana Parish, St. Francisville, Louisiana, U. S. The move will allow the company to significantly boost production capacity to meet evolving market demands.
The project will center around upgrading its primary paper machine, which will increase production capacity by 80,000 tons per year. The investment also includes significant improvements to the facility’ s recovery boiler, which is essential in powering the mill.
The first phase is currently underway while the remaining equipment and additions will be fully installed during the May 2027 annual mill outage. The facility first opened in the late 1950s by Crown Zellerbach and later operated under Tembec. Since taking ownership in 2015, Hood Container has invested more than USD $ 160 million into the facility.
