Valmet to Supply Another Paper Machine Rebuild to Sappi North America ’ s Somerset Facility
Valmet will supply an extensive rebuild for Sappi ’ s Somerset paper manufacturing facility in Skowhegan , Maine , USA . Previously , Valmet rebuilt the paper machine 1 ( PM1 ) and with its success , Sappi has chosen Valmet again to rebuild the paper machine 2 ( PM2 ).
As a result of the PM2 conversion from coated woodfree graphic paper to solid bleached sulphate board , the machine capacity will be increased from 240,000
CDI Energy Products Acquires EGC Enterprises
CDI Energy Products , LLC , a global leader in high-performance polymer product manufacturing , announced the acquisition of EGC Enterprises , Inc ., a leading producer of graphite-based sealing products with locations in Ohio and North Carolina . The desired result of this acquisition will present an exciting opportunity to increase the global reach , operational expertise , and diverse array of services available to CDI and EGC ’ s customers worldwide . The transaction officially closed on January 31 st .

The acquisition of EGC fits into CDI ’ s strategy to expand its market share in industries with growing demand including power generation , general industrial , aerospace and defense , and water
tons to 470,000 tons per annum . The start-up of the rebuilt machine is scheduled for the mid-year of 2025 .
PM2 will be rebuilt using some of the most advanced packaging manufacturing technology to produce a variety of both packaging and coated paper products .
Valmet ’ s delivery will include a number of modifications and new machine parts in the existing machine to meet the requirements of the new packaging grades . In addition , the mill will benefit from Valmet Industrial Internet and Automation Solutions including a new Quality Measurement System , a Process Control System ( DCS and Valmet DNA ), web monitoring and web inspection systems .

Chairman and owner Frank Siver has announced the hiring of Scott Allard as President of Conval , Inc . Allard comes to Conval with a wide range of experience , garnered from a number of different valve manufacturers in managerial roles ranging from engineering to general management to product / project management and sales . He replaces Don Curtin , who retired after 25 years of service .
Allard holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire . His professional focus has been in engineered flow control products for specialized end user markets such as the U . S . Department of Defense / U . S . Navy , power , oil and gas . His previous experience includes Portland Valve , Crosby Valve , Hunt Valve , Consolidated Valve and General Dynamics Electric Boat .
Motion & Control Enterprises Acquires Precision Pump & Valve
Motion & Control Enterprises announced that it has acquired Precision Pump & Valve . This acquisition marks the first of 2023 and the eight since 2021 .
