Canada Nortera Invests CAD $ 28 million in its Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu Plant
Nortera, a processor and marketer of canned and frozen vegetables, will invest CAD $ 28 million to optimize its Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu plant in Quebec, Canada, over a term of five years. The project consolidates the company’ s position as a central player in Canada’ s agri-food sector and aligns with its strategy to remain competitive in the evolving market. It anticipates the plant’ s capacity will increase from 6 million to 10.6 million case equivalents and greatly contribute to the local agricultural production in the province. The Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu plant specializes in vegetable and legume canning with preparation of soups and sauces. According to the company, it will become a key site in the Canadian industrial network with modern equipment and enhanced production capacity. Nortera operates 13 plants in Canada and the United States, processing, and marketing more than 400,000 tonnes of vegetables each year in collaboration with approximately 540 agricultural partners.
Ontario Welcomes Hilton Foods’ CAD $ 192 Million Investment in Brantford, Ontario
The Ontario government announced an investment of CAD $ 192 million from Hilton Foods Canada to build its first North American food processing and distribution facility in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. A further investment of CAD $ 1.5 million from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund will further support the project and help grow and diversify the province’ s food manufacturing industry. The new 230,000-square-foot food processing and distribution facility will process protein products, including beef, pork, lamb, and seafood for distribution centers in parts of Ontario and New Brunswick.
Argentina Lamb Weston Opens New Mar del Plata Production Facility
Lamb Weston Holdings, a global supplier of frozen potato products, officially opened a 431,000 square-foot production facility this past October in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. The modern facility will better serve its customers for premium potato products in the growing Latin
America market. With advanced technology, as well as sustainable practices to reduce waste and maximize the use of its natural resources, the facility has the capacity to process 200 million pounds of potatoes annually and produce more than
100 varieties of frozen potato products. The company recently completed its first shipment from the facility to Brazil and approximately 80 % of its product will be exported throughout the country as well as throughout Latin America.
