my corner.” She added,“ Ken and Lynn were once in the band but have now moved onto stage crew and Ken also runs the video camera.”
After the band’ s president, Bill Martin, retired in 1997, Karen took on the responsibility of administrator and also houses the band’ s music.“ Playing music with my alto saxophone has been such a joy and accomplishment that I naturally agreed and have been the band’ s administrator since,” she said.“ We have great members who are willing to help when asked.”
Rehearsals run from 6:30 to 8:15 p. m. Tuesdays in the Harrisville Fire Hall. The group starts spring practices after Ground Hog Day and performs a spring concert in April. The fall schedule begins in September after Labor Day with a fall concert around Veterans Day. In 2025, the band also added a Christmas Concert in December.

Karen described the musicians as true“ band geeks” who enjoy rehearsals as much as concerts, if not more, she said.“ If you are reading music and playing your horn, you cannot think or worry about all the distractions of life, and when we are finished, we feel fulfilled and refreshed, ready to tackle another day. Founding members Judy Critchlow and Karen McKnight were celebrated during the band’ s 60th anniversary in October.
