Make -A- Wish is a non-profit organization founded in the United States that arranges experiences to kids that have life threatening medical conditions. On February sixth of this year, Valley View High School played Jonesboro High School in the Make -A- Wish game. Valley View School District as a whole gathered a little over thirteen thousand dollars for the Make-A-Wish foundation. During halftime of the game the cheerleaders and dancers went around to collect money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. In addition to collecting money, a few cheerleaders also escorted out Haley Richmond, a Make -A- Wish participant, during halftime of both the girl’s and boy’s basketball game. The schools also collected money from the donations of the kids. The elementary had a pep rally to raise awareness and money for the Make -A- Wish foundation, which included games, activities, and a pig in a tutu! The game against Jonesboro High School was to make Make -A- Wish more aware to people, and to collect profit to donate for the Organization. The money received by Make -A- Wish will go to kids with life- threatening illnesses throughout the United States in hope to make them focus less on the illness and more on life and the positive things that can come of life. Valley View ended up losing both the girls and the boys game, but the spread of awareness for the Make -A- Wish foundation was not a loss for anyone. Next time you want to donate, think about the Make -A- Wish foundation. Article by James Leverette and Levi Johns
