This year at Valley View High school there is a new scholarship available for this years graduating seniors called the Phil Parker memorial scholarship. This scholarship is in remembrance of coach Phil Parker who was a golf and volleyball coach at Valley View. He had many accomplishments including 14 state titles, seven in volleyball and the other seven in golf. This scholarship should be available by the end of March or the beginning of April after all of the details are worked out. For this scholarship GPA and accomplishments will be closely looked at. If you are interested in donating to this scholarship you can do so by cash or check to Valley View High School or you can mail to 2131 Valley View drive. This scholarship was started by Kelly Cockrell and she decided to do this in his remembrance of him. The three main reasons this scholarship was founded were because of coach Parker’s good values, and how he was a great friend to all.

"Golf is such an individual sport, every kid is different and every round of golf is going to counter some kind of adversity you're not going to get through 18 holes, Jordan Spieth doesn't get through 18 holes without adversity. There's different ways of overcoming adversity that somewhere along the line, it's going to happen and it's not going to be fair and not going to bounce your way but that's okay." -Coach Parker

This quote comes to show that Coach Phil Parker truly cared about each and everyone of his students.
