Valley View We The People go to Nationals

The Valley View We The People group won the state competition in mid January. Winning the competition qualified the group for the chance to compete at the national competition in Washington D.C. We The People is a competition based around government, the U.S. Constitution, and important issues our country is facing. The group is divided into six units, each unit receives three questions to prepare responses for. At the competition they will read their prepared responses, and afterwards answer on the spot Q&A. The group is mainly seniors with a few juniors. They are led by their coach, Jacob Lamberson. The team is currently working hard to prepare their responses for nationals. However, they need help getting to Washington. The team contains 22 students, and it will cost $1700 per person to go on the trip. They are hosting several fundraisers. For example, they have sold tickets for Strawberry’s BBQ plates, a Lost Pizza night will be hosted March 7, and a Newks night on March 14. Also, they have a GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/vvarwethepeople . They are proud to be representing the state of Arkansas at the national competition. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

“A Walk Through PTA History”

On April 7th, the Arkansas PTA convention opened at Arkansas State University. From 8 AM to 5 PM, the convention consisted of a silent auction, a live performance of Brundibar, a museum tour, multiple workshops, and an awards banquet. The Parent Teacher Association provides a helping hand for those in need. Our role for this convention was to present actors of past presidents, and to inform others about the history of the PTA.
