A surprising amount of different technology goes into a hype/ highlight video/or video board. When shooting a game or other things we use a Canon DSLR camera or a Sony broadcast camcorder, and sometimes we even use a Phantom drone. After all of the footage is gathered they are edited in a few different software like Adobe Premiere Pro which is one of the more popular software used by editors. Another is Appleās Final Cut Pro which is a mac only software and is also a popular choice.
When we edit pictures we first acquire the look we want in Adobe Lightroom, then tweak the photo in Photoshop. Usually, this is taking out a portion of a photo or adding additional content such as text, specially made graphics, particles such as dust or even explosions! Next, visual effects like lens flares, explosions, dust, and many other things are made in Adobe After Effects. Many of the 3D Graphics seen on video boards are made in After Effects as well.
Once the editing process is finalized, it is to be approved by the East teacher and then any coaches. Then it is sent to the Video Board to be played at some point throughout the game. Sometimes it is sent to Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, or around the school to promote what the team is doing.
The Valley View video board uses a software called Sports Video Player, which is a software similar to trickster and other video switching software. This software controls everything that is played on the video board.
Overall, very few people fully understand the magnitude of work accomplished by the many people behind the scenes to make everything possible. Whether it is taking pictures, shooting videos, editing videos, switching, or even making sure that no one gets run over by a football player, everyone plays his or her part.
