SPRING 2013
A week at D-Day
There are a ton of players for the big game, typically 2500- 4000 +... but you’ ll really only be involved in a small piece of the overall war, however you’ re a part of a bigger puzzle so every effort counts towards the main goal. I played for the 716th, we defend Sword Beach and fall back into the town if Caen, Covert is the CO, the only female in command at D-Day and she’ s a teammate! Our beach is hard to defend, but Caen is amazing to fight in. There are TONS of tanks, lots of paint flying everywhere! It’ s a game that some players dream about.
It’ s not like any other week you’ ll experience anywhere else like Cancun or the Bahamas, no this week will help you test yourself and how much of a paintballer you really are. A week at D-Day is HOT very Hot and humid, there are always a lot of players treated for heat exhaustion each year. So play safe and don’ t over exert yourself. This is the biggest paintball event of the year! I’ ve been to this twice and love it!
The parade is also hot so be prepared if you plan on going in it, however it’ s an experience you’ ll definitely want to do at least once!
Camping is set up by which division you are in, it’ s pretty cool, lots of socializing, especially at night as it cools, you’ ll also want to surround your tent with Sevin dust to keep the bugs out. There are bathrooms and showers. We brought a camp shower which was a great cool down after playing all day. There are mini scenarios each week and they are a blast, fast and furious! Usually 2 hours. If you want to pick up into a game, there are speedball fields that seem to always have players during the week.
During the off hours there is a lake nearby that a lot of folks drive to swim or about 15 miles away we would go for dinner and have an air conditioned break each day to take the edge off. Tons of vendors and some pretty good deals in gear so make sure if you’ re going to shop bring extra cash to enjoy the splendors! All in all it is a lot of fun and an experience every scenario player should do at least once! I want to go back this year; I definitely recommend this for any paintballers bucket list.
