SPRING 2013
How important is Communication?
How to make a cost effective Ghillie Suit!
Ghillie Suit, the ultimate camouflage, it can be hot and heavy however it can be one of the biggest advantages on a field. There are many ways to make a Ghillie Suit. But it all comes down too which one is more effective? I must point out that no matter how great your Ghillie Suit is, It all comes down to how you use it for the environment your playing so be aware of your surroundings as they change. If it is possible to stay in the same kind of terrain as you get from point A to point B, do so. Otherwise, you’ ll have to incorporate the materials of the new area you’ re moving into.
SPRING 2013
Whether it be speedball, scenario ball or marriage; communication is the most important thing you can have. We often see players wearing and using radios, but how effective are they. Most often you’ ll see teammates calling out the position of other players or giving one another instructions. But is this the most effective use of your radio?
Although lateral communication is important vertical communication is most critical. Talking to your teammates about a guy behind the tree is important. But in the grand scheme of things, the most effective use of radios is to report mass troop movements to higher command. This will allow your General to predict the flow of battle and adjust accordingly.
One of the largest problems to effective communication, believe it or not, is having too many people on the radio.
Another problem is carrying more than two radios.
Elongated radio transmissions.
Using radios for casual conversations.
As the equipment and scenario games become more realistic it will be interesting to see how Paintball Commanders will adapt their communications plans.
Effective communication is a game changer; make your radio your most powerful weapon!
