Watching Halloweentown feels like wrapping yourself up in a cozy blanket of Halloween nostalgia .

Coraline might be more recent , but it is already a modern Halloween classic . This eerie animated film tells the story of a young girl who finds a secret door in her new house that leads to an alternate reality . At first , it seems perfect — until she realizes there ’ s something very wrong with this “ other ” world . With its beautiful stop-motion animation and unsettling atmosphere , Coraline is the perfect blend of whimsy and creepiness . It ’ s great for when you want something a little darker but still rooted in fantasy .
