ASouth Georgia business that came of age during the COVID-19 pandemic is still going strong . Front Door Produce , a firm that packs and ships boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables to customers ’ doorsteps , was started as a response to the pandemic , which made it difficult for many people to get out and shop , said Brad Mathis , co-owner .
Mathis has his office in Sparks , but the packing center for Front Door Produce is in Norman Park . While Mathis ’ partner , Brad Hunter , works out of Savannah .
When orders are placed , the foodstuffs are shipped in insulated containers with cool packs , Mathis said .
Regular fruit and vegetable shipments to supermarkets leave the field for a processor , are shipped to a warehouse , then are forwarded to the stores , where they usually sit for a while before the consumer buys them , he said .
