“ Christmas with the Kranks ”
A bit more recent , “ Christmas with the Kranks ” is the story of Luther and Nora Krank . Previously known for their over-the-top Christmas decorations in the neighborhood , the Kranks decide to forgo Christmas this year , after their daughter Blair joins the Peace Corps . Luther buys them a Christmas cruise . But , when Blair calls to let them know her and her boyfriend will be home for Christmas after all , it ’ s up to the entire neighborhood to come together for Blair ’ s Christmas back at home . I saw this movie in theaters with my entire family , and the memories it brings back are so nostalgic . It also provides great comedy , especially the tanning booth scene at the mall . As a child who used to tag along with my mom to the tanning bed and wait in the lobby , this scene was everything . It ’ s a must watch for any age .

“ Home Alone ”
“ Home Alone ” is a story everyone knows . Kevin McAllister is bombarded by relatives at his house the night before a big trip to London , and wishes them gone . When he wakes up the next morning , a counting mistake has caused the family to head to London without him . While his mother is worried sick about catching a flight home , Kevin is happy to be independent , eating all the pizza he wants , until two men try to break into his home , and he is determined to protect it , at all costs . Hijinks ensue as both the crooks and Kevin go blow for blow . The comedic timing is perfect , and seeing this movie as a kid , I often wondered what I would do if I were Kevin .

“ The Santa Clause ” “ The Santa Clause ” is the first in a series of “ Santa Clause ” movies starring Tim Allen , but the first one will forever be my favorite . The movie centers around a young boy , Charlie , whose parents are in the middle of getting a divorce . While spending Christmas Eve with his dad , Charlie hears a noise on the roof and hurries out to investigate with his dad running out after him . The two scare the real Santa , causing him to fall and Charlie ’ s dad to have to put on the big red suit . Chaos ensues as Charlie ’ s mom and new husband , who happens to be a child psychiatrist , find this to be a tall tale . The story is truly original and the first in my early childhood memory to show a realistic view of the North Pole and elves , and how Santa gets everywhere ! I think this movie is also one of my favorites , because beyond Rudolph and Frosty , it ’ s the first Christmas movie my dad and I watched together during the holidays .
