Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from the Valdosta Scene ! Growing up , Christmas was one of my favorite holidays . It would all begin on Thanksgiving Day ; we would eat lunch as a family , before going home to change and all meet back up at Eames Christmas Tree Farm to pick out a tree .
My mom would be so picky ; it couldn ’ t have any holes , it had to be the right height and it could be fat , but not too fat . My grandma on the other hand , picked the fattest , biggest tree she could find that usually didn ’ t even fit into her living room . My dad would load them all into his truck and deliver them , while my mom , sister and I untangled the lights and got down the ornaments .
Somehow , Father of the Bride was always playing in the background on television , and it became one of my favorite traditions to decorate the tree while that played in the background .
As Christmas grew closer , so did the seasonal activities , like the reading of a great Christmas story . This edition , we partnered with the local library to find great activities and reads for all the little ones .
While Christmas stories are great , nothing got me more in the spirit than seeing Christmas lights .
On Christmas Eve , my parents would take my sister and I riding around to see lights until we fell asleep .
Camp Rock sounds like the ultimate Christmas lights show to take your kids to , if you ’ re in need of them falling fast asleep by the time you return also !
After a long night of playing the role of Santa and all of his elves too , we definitely have you something in mind- a Christmas cocktail , made straight from Georgia Beer Co .! We realize not every Christmas may look exactly like this though , and we thank everyone who makes the holidays special for kids everywhere , rather that be coaches or teachers ; you don ’ t go unnoticed , and those kids never forget the love you showed them at the holidays . It is much like the love God showed for all of us when He sent His only son , Our savior to be born on this day .
May we all truly remember and celebrate the reason for the season this year !
