Now , fast forward to 2022 as I retire , each of my students have a Chromebook and I have a smart board . Growing up in Fargo , Georgia I always loved school and teaching just felt natural to me .”
Q : Rather than becoming a teacher , what else was your dream ? Shannon : “ At ten years old , I wanted to be an artist , but as a teacher , I could fulfill that dream through many art projects with my students .”
Q : What are your hobbies ? Shannon : “ I am looking forward to revisiting some of my hobbies . Since school has been out , I have started back gardening .”

Q : What motivation or inspiration kept you going ? Shannon : “ I have made many connections with students and their families . Many of my student ’ s parents have become some of my best friends . The relationships have honestly been the highlight of my career .”
Q : What is your message for upcoming teachers ? Shannon : “ Build relationships with children and their parents . I made it a requirement to participate in one activity with my students outside of the classroom . I have been to everything from baseball games , dance recitals , baptisms , and much more .”
