God and Me
Jeffrey Park
So I’ve been spending a lot of time
with God lately, over coffee
(mine black, His white and sweet)
at the shops, strolling through
town with our arms
locked in a companionable
yet thoroughly masculine way.
I watch the squirrels at play
while he checks out the babes
surreptitiously, of course, as only He can.
It was uncomfortable
the first time He joined me
in the bathtub
but I got over it. It’s cool.
He calls me at work sometimes
asks me what He should make for dinner.
As if I don’t see right through Him.
After all, Tuesday
is always pepperoni pizza night
at Our place.
