One of Mr. Davis’ favorite memories
from his career was when he retired as a
principal. A parent painted a caricature of
him on the wall of the gymnasium, carefully noting some important characteristics
of Mr. Davis: his ponytail, the Birkenstocks
he wore every day, his ever-present walkietalkie, and his signature power tie. In addition to this memorial of him, every student
in the school walked into the gymnasium
with their own creation of a necktie. Mr.
Davis says, “I still have some of those
neckties…I was really at a loss for words.”
Says Mr. Davis of his life, “It’s been a
long adventure. I feel like I have led a lot
of lives.” I would add that Mr. Davis has
affected a lot of lives along his journey, and
will continue to do so for a long time through
his current work at Pittsboro Baptist. ★
