Hello Everyone and welcome to my last message to you as President of VMR Southport. The
past two years in this position have been both challenging and rewarding and I’m very proud of the
results that both myself and the Management Committee have achieved. With that in mind, I feel that
it’s time now to step back a little and let someone new have a go in the position, so I won’t be seeking
re-election at the upcoming AGM. I’m confident that the organization we are handing over is in excellent
shape and that the incoming President and committee have a great base in which to continue building
upon.
In saying all that, I am now also writing to you as the new Editor of the V Sheet. As you will read
further on in the issue our long standing Editor John Stanfield has retired from the job after many years
so I’ve decided to ‘give it a crack’! The whole process of putting together a magazine such as this is all
very new to me however I’m enjoying the challenge of learning new skills and have certainly discovered
the meaning of trial and error! John has set a high standard with the V Sheet so I have big shoes to fill!
I hope you continue to enjoy reading it.
Around the base things are running smoothly and all 4 Rescue boats have been kept busy, as
always. Our new radio tower project, while running behind, is well and truly underway and is hopefully
not too far off.
I would like to take this opportunity to formally thank everyone who has supported me during
my almost ten years on the Management Committee and I look forward to spending more time on the
boats and am excited about new challenges that lay ahead. All the best...
