BHUTAN: Held OBR educational sessions with all their police forces.
GHANA: Held two huge Rising Freedom Festivals( in Boadan and in Accra).
SOUTH AFRICA: Held a rising at the castle where slaves were once tortured – very symbolic- and held circles to reclaim the space and their bodies and freedom. Indigenous women led the event with cleansing and ceremony inside a location that holds many memories of enslavement, the rape of indigenous Khoisan women and the slave trade of women. The event had poets speaking words of freedom, the closure of spirit and the poetry of hope. Many LGBTQI + communities attended. They created“ hearts of Cape Town for Gaza”.
NAMIBIA: Held a Rising for Freedom Music and Arts Festival – a two-day festival that also included donating 100 trees.
EUROPEAN WOMEN’ S LOBBY( EWL):
Held regionally coordinated OBR actions across Europe with EWL member countries participating – rising on March 6th with a social media campaign on“ No One Is Free Until Everyone Is Free” – with photos, memes, declarations, commitments. The main EWL action was held in Belgium outside the EU, with a commitment action with EU ministers.
ZIMBABWE: Held an artistic rising with music, dance and poetry participated in by a diverse group of people – people with disabilities, LGBTQI + individuals, students – and also people from communities who are often left out of public events – creating a space that celebrated authenticity.
