V-Day Annual Report 2021 | Page 14

We are in the midst of a rising tide of right-wing nationalism , white supremacy , fascism , tyranny , hatred of and fear of immigrants , misogyny , femicide , homophobia , transphobia , corporate greed , and climate destruction . We cannot beat fascists , rapists , climate deniers , and plunderers on their terms . We will never be that cruel , discompassionate , greedy , or murderous . We cannot let ourselves be changed by or sunk in their cynicism , hatred , divisions , and destruction . What we can do is remember we are the many , and we can RAISE THE VIBRATION through Action , Art , Connection , Imagination , and Love .

RAISE THE

VIBRATION

Since V-Day first began , many new and long-term activists have begun to stage their own works reflecting the voices in their communities . Throughout V-Day ’ s history , activists have used this platform to shed light on the connection between gender-based violence and political instability , armed conflict , xenophobia , unsafe working conditions , transphobia , homophobia , and racism . Raise the Vibration can cover a range of topics — gender and sexuality , identity , the changing sociopolitical climate , any issue specific to the community at hand .
This year , over 25 communities chose to host Raise the Vibration events using zoom and podcasts , foregrounding new voices in the conversation around ending violence against all women ( cisgender and transgender ), those who hold fluid identities , nonbinary people , girls , and the planet , providing them a chance to raise funds for the organizations they have supported throughout the years of the V-Day campaigns as we transition into VOICES .
Organizers curated new artistic events inviting local writers , activists , artists to participate . Some organizers used their Raise the Vibration platform to discuss the importance of transitioning from The Vagina Monologues to Voices . Others used music , dance , and visual art to reach people wherever they were quarantining .
