In the PHILIPPINES, over 200 hundred
schools and grassroots communities
held huge artistic political rising events
highlighting the theme “Rise against fascism,
Resist Tyranny, Unite for Peace” – with huge
creative resistance actions against President
Duterte and his rising dictatorship. University
students created their own new OBR dances.
Members of the revolutionary groups in the
mountains also had their own OBR events with
their own dancing, which called for women to
join and support the revolution.

HONG KONG migrant domestic workers
held their annual huge rising with thousands of
international migrant workers from Indonesia,
Philippines, Nepal, Thailand, Nepal and Sri
Lanka gathered in Central HK to rise for migrant
worker rights and to end modern day slavery. The
event is a unique cultural event as it is hosted
in 4 languages (Cantonese, Tagalog, Bahasa and
Thai) with energetic and non stop dancing of OBR
Revolution songs in all these different languages,
including their own song and dance versions of
“Break the Chain”.
INDIA had more than 100 risings in all 22 states -
which included various forms of risings: In Marmara
(gatherings around a tree), gatherings in public
spaces, walkathons, flash mobs, public hearings,
interfaces with officials, car, taxi or public transport
rallies, advocacy against GM seeds to help women
farmers, mass awareness and pledge taking, silent
protests, Take Back the Night, parades, street plays,
singing, dancing, slogans, school programs, re-writing
story tales from disability perspective, human chains,
self-defence, wall murals, Rangoli, kites and balloons,
speak outs, research and film making, women band
performances, and press and media interface.
