In LESOTHO, activists held a
candlelight walk in the capital city
– rising with creative performances
that highlighted violence against
LGBTQI communities, as well as
the normalization of “corrective”
rape. OBR events also included
a performance of “The Vagina
Monologues”.
OBR in UGANDA included a
Solidarity match, a parade, economic
exhibitions, workshops on personal
and family finance and healthcare, a
poetry recital and composition contest,
and a huge OBR artistic event led by
traditional dancers with mixed drums
and traditional dancing from all regions
of Uganda – expressing solidarity and
support with the people of Entebbe for
their murdered women.

The theme for OBR TOGO was
“Empowering women and making them into
peace makers.” Events included a debate
and open discussion based on the subject –
“Is women empowerment a threat to men?”
In LAGOS, OBR workshops were held
on war, sexism, marginalization, rape,
ethnicity and religious intolerance and feud,
ethnic cleansing, kidnapping and killing of
schoolgirls in Northern Nigeria. They also held
an OBR “Walk for Peace”, as well as an OBR
symposium on women’s rights held in Lagos.
OBR events also included counseling sessions
on tribal hatred and how to unite and achieve
peace.
