The International Center for Advanced
Research and Training in Oslo recently
published its report on the City of Joy,
entitled FROM PAIN TO EMPOWERMENT?
The findings were not surprising and
reaffirmed what we have always known
about our program:
“Systematic survey results indicate that the women display significant
changes in their attitudes and knowledge about women’s empowerment
and leadership, indicating that the program has a strong immediate effect
on changing the participants’ views on female leadership.” The study also
pointed out another area we are actively working to address and evaluate
– just how much these changes are sustained once women integrate
back and have some distance from the program. For how long do women
practice what they learned? In which types of cases do these practices
stick, in which might they not?
