INSPIRED BY THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES, ACTIVISTS CREATE NEW PLAYS This 2016 season also brought many new alternative productions of The Vagina Monologues from schools and communities looking to tell local stories and write pieces addressing other marginalized stories. Tulane University presented His, Theirs, Ours. The Hijabi Monologues at University of San Francisco focused on the taboos of the Muslim Community. I Can Say Yes in Huntington, West Virginia focused on the theme of consent. The Vagina Project at Dixie State University focused on exploring and celebrating womanhood. The Hooker Monologues in Vancouver focused on dispelling myths and stigma around sex workers. Body Monologues in Missouri centered on body image and self love. And Powerful Women Within in Petaluma told the stories of women’s realities in the world today.
