G REVOLUTION 2015
RISE FOR THE RAISE
All over the world, women workers rose against exploitation of labor and capitalism. They rose for their
right to employment, humane working conditions, livable
wages, and the right to form unions for the protection of
these rights. The intersection of economic security, ending
workplace sexual harassment, strong labor laws, and
the ability for women to thrive was amplified by multiple
risings this year.
In the U.S., restaurant workers and customers who support
One Fair Wage called on legislators to raise the minimum
wage and on CEOs to pay workers a livable wage. One Billion Rising joined ROC United
to get the word out about a series of actions and on 13 February—ROC’s annual day of
action—a national action took place. Following these actions, ROC celebrated a huge success when New York Governor Cuomo announced a raise to $7.50 an hour for New York’s
400,000 tipped workers.
MEN RISING
Men led and organized
groundbreaking, revolutionary initiatives, serving
as inspiration to other men
around the world to join
the radical shift in consciousness in how women
and girls are treated and
seen both in their
communities and globally.
