What is it like being a working mother (police officer)

Its busy and demanding and over time I have learn t that as important as my job is for my survival I will always put my children first

Growing up, what did you think you wanted to do for a living?

I want to be a house wife, my mom was a stay at home mom and I use to come home for lunch in primary school, additionally as i grew older i hated coming home to an empty house

How have your notions of what it means to be a mother changed?

As the saying goes it's easier said than done. I have realized the value of the virtue patience, the hard work and the weight of all the "lil" small talk and worry my mother gave

When did you know you were ready to have children?

I have two children and still don't know if I'm ready (laughs). But no matter how financially stable or how many books you read nothing could really prepare you for your own unique bundle except you intuition.

How is your relationship with your child or children?

In my opinion we have a very comfortable and open relationship, I try to read and speak openly to them on topics that may arise so that in turn they will feel comfortable coming to me with whatever issues they may face

What is the craziest thing you have done since becoming a mother?

Have another child (laughs)

What do you do for fun?

I'm at the stage where sleeping has become a hobby since I rarely get it but playing sports from basketball to hockey to rugby are a few things that bring me joy.

Are you close with your own mother?, And how does she assist you?

I can certainly call her my friend, there was a point after having my son I was traveling frequently and she was my main source of support. She is definitely a backbone

What advice would you give yourself ten years ago?

Have patience with myself

If you had to do it all over again, what would you. change?

Absolutely nothing. My blessings and struggles have molded me into the woman I am and becoming, it has grown and enforced my faith and trust in the Lord that I am now confident in failure and that is something I cannot trade
