One of Tinbergen’s experiments in-
volved constructing cardboard dummy
butterflies with more defined markings that
male butterflies would try to mate with in
preference to real females. IMVU works kind
of like this. With no anatomical limitations,
users can contort and distort their features
as much as they want. From the tips of their
flexed toes, to the top of their meshed
heads. It is fun to make a cardboard
butterfly, and to look at the incredible ones
others have made. But, just be careful to
remember that it is cardboard and not a
standard by which to measure the
butterflies outside your screen by.
