Docents and the
Marine Protected Area
Collaborative
An LA Waterkeeper Blog
Los Angeles Waterkeeper is a founding
member of the CA Statewide Marine Protected Area Collaborative Implementation
Project and is dedicated to continuing the
Collaborative’s efforts to provide local communities with the information, structure,
support, and inter-agency communication
to facilitate the creation of working Marine
Protected Area (MPA) collaborative groups.
Each local group is uniquely suited to
spread the word about their MPAs and their
community activities and needs.
We are reaching out to LA Waterkeeper
volunteers to involve more stakeholders
in our MPA Collaborative activities in and
around our Marine Protected Areas. MPA
docent trainings for volunteer collaborative
representatives from various ocean communities are being formed. Volunteer docents
can then lead MPA outreach and education
activities in their communities. The Point
