– UTD TECHNIQUES – ASCENDING IN CURRENT 1. Give up any idea that you must be facing your teammate on an ascent. 2. Establish the direction of the current and postion yourselves side by side face the current. 4. Do not over-exert youself. A proper ascent is based on a resting sac rate of .5 cft/ min or 15 l/min. Do not spend your ascent furiously kicking to stay on the line. 3. Do your ascent and gas switches side by side. 5. Consider that in a strong current a scooter may be considered a piece of life support equipment, holding you in sight of the line.
