2. Shall require the crew member to provide the appropriate documentation showing that
he or she has met the requirements for holding the position of ship’s commanding
officer as set forth in this document and in the applicable STARFLEET documentation.
3. Provide that documentation to all active members of the ship at the scheduled meeting
and call for a vote by sealed ballot of all active members of the ship. The
documentation, along with a ballot, shall also be provided to active members who were
unable to attend the meeting via whatever means the commanding officer chooses as
appropriate, including electronic delivery via email or hard?copy delivery via the United
States Postal Service.
4. The commanding officer shall also designate the ship’s JAG as the receiver of the ballots,
and set a beginning and ending time for the voting to take place, specifying on which
date the ballots must be returned to the JAG (or another non?interested party should a
JAG not be appointed).
5. Upon completion of the voting period, the JAG shall notify the commanding officer that
all ballots have been received and the JAG shall then request that the First Officer
provide the names of four crew members – one (1) each from the command crew,
medical, science and engineering sections. The JAG shall make contact with these
members to determine their availability and schedule a meeting with the selected crew
members for the purpose of counting the ballots and certifying the election results.
Should one or more of the individuals be unavailable or unwilling to participate, the JAG
shall request the names of alternate crew members.
6. Upon certifying the results, the JAG shall notify the commanding officer, who in turn,
shall notify the crew of the election results.
First Officer
In the event that another crew member wishes to run for the position of first, the
commanding officer shall, without prejudice, aid that member in filling that desire. The
commanding officer:
1. Shall immediately call for a meeting of the entire crew at the next available date.
2. Shall require the crew member to provide the appropriate documentation showing that
