USQ Artsworx What's On Music 2018 Vol. 1 | Page 10

CLASSIC ALBUM INCUBATOR PRODUCTION Every generation of popular musicians leaves an indelible mark on popular culture and this 70 min show, produced by USQ’s 3rd year Bachelor of Creative Arts music students, looks to revisit and rethink these seminal works. In developing the Classic Album show students are creating their own extended concert. This draws on their own research into the performance practices and technologies that helped to create the distinctive sounds of particular eras, and the people and culture that made, and were made by, the music. The concert is a chance to showcase their maturing musicality, exercise their understanding of the way music and its context interrelate, and continue their transition into the professional world. The students will research, develop and write the Classic Album show as they begin their 2018 studies. As a result, the show’s subject and title will be announced closer to the performance date. Incubator events showcase USQ’s emerging artists and convey a sense of raw energy and talent. FRIDAY 8 JUNE 7.30 PM VENUE: USQ Arts Theatre COST: Regular: $10.00 Members: FREE artsworx.com.au
