U.S. producers’ inventories Table III‐12 presents U.S. producers’ end‐of‐period inventories and the ratio of these inventories to U.S. producers’ production, U.S. shipments, and total shipments. During 2017‐19, U.S. producers’ end‐of‐period inventories increased by 20.1 percent. U.S. producers’ end‐ofperiod inventories as a ratio to U.S. production, and total shipments increased during the period by 4.8 percentage points and by *** percentage points, respectively. U.S. producers’ end‐of‐period inventories as a ratio to U.S. shipments increased by *** percentage points between 2017 and 2018 then decreased by *** percentage points between 2018 and 2019. Overall, during 2017‐19, U.S. producers’ end‐of‐period inventories as a ratio to U.S. shipments increased by *** percentage points.
