Longleaf Tee System
A system to scale your course
Even forward tees on most courses are too long for many players. Research shows that
a course should be no more than 3,300 yards in length in order for a player who drives
the ball 100 yards in the air to reach greens in regulation. If your course doesn’t offer
tees this length or shorter, players aren’t being provided an experience that fits their
game.
The American Society of Golf Course Architects and the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation are
partnering in an industry-wide effort to help players of all ages enjoy, grow, and stay in
the game. Rees Jones, the U.S. Open Doctor, is a national spokesman, and he recently
implemented the scaled tee program at Medinah #2.

Drive the Proper Tee Home to Your Players
Creating a Tee Assessment Area on your range makes it simple for golfers to determine
the tee that best suits their game. For example, if a player carries the ball past the Level 3
sign but short of Level 5, the golfer should play from the Level 4 tees. To implement a Tee
Assessment Area on your range, contact us for more details.
Our range at Longleaf uses permanent distance
locators that help determine driver carry distance.
