I donate to the U . S . Kids Golf Foundation because of the opportunities they provided my daughter and me to grow - not only in our love of golf , but in our relationship with each other , and I want more families to have those same experiences .
There ’ s nothing extraordinary about our family golf journey . I ’ m just a dad that wanted the best for my daughter , as any father would . The U . S . Kids Golf Foundation provided such an important platform for us to develop our love of the game and strengthen our relationship with each other .
When my daughter first showed an interest in learning and competing in golf , our U . S . Kids Local Tour seemed to be the easiest point of entry . She wasn ’ t particularly good at first , and I didn ’ t have much history in the game , so I wasn ’ t a great help , but we found that she was immediately surrounded by encouraging Local Tour Directors and many newfound friends . That support really created an atmosphere where she could thrive , so we kept signing up for more events . And regardless of how she played , she considered herself a “ golfer ” and the self-confidence , determination , and aspirations that came with that meant the world to her , as she navigated her way through her formative years .
Even more , I learned that the time we spent together preparing for events , driving to tournaments , and walking between the ropes while I did my best to caddie for her were becoming some of the most treasured times in my life . As a parent , finding a setting that opened up our communication and really allowed our relationship to grow in new ways was so much more valuable than anything else I could have hoped for when she first gripped a club .
Over the years , her game improved to the point where she was winning various tournaments and ultimately , named All-Ivy League First Team in college . I ’ m so proud of all her golf accomplishments , but I ’ m definitely more proud of the young lady she has become . U . S . Kids Golf has played an integral role in shaping her into the woman she is today .
So , it ’ s with a grateful heart that I give back . With all of the challenges parents face in raising kids , I ’ m so pleased to support a group that provides such a unique and important service for families like ours .
