A Parent ’ s Story

Donnie Solesbee
Father of Autumn Solesbee
We adopted our amazing and beautiful daughter from foster care when she was seven years old . She is our only child , and she moved in with us the day before Thanksgiving in 2019 . The adoption was finalized on April 21st of 2020 . Shortly after joining our family , we took her to Top Golf to meet my father , her new grandfather , for the first time . Autumn had never played golf before , and , in fact , had never played any sport . She absolutely loved it . Soon after , we all watched The Short Game on Netflix and she literally said right then and there that she was going to play in the World Championship one day .
In June of 2020 , I took her to a 4-day Parent-Child Camp at Longleaf . She already loved golf before the camp , but she left with a passion for U . S . Kids Golf that is hard to put into words . And Dad fell in love too ! This didn ’ t happen because of the great games or the Player Pathway pins ( although I will admit those are REALLY motivational for her ). No … she fell in love with U . S . Kids Golf because of the people who took the time to really get to know her and made her feel exceptional and significant .
I wholeheartedly cannot express my gratitude enough for what U . S . Kids Golf has meant to our family and especially to my daughter .”
