US FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PARTIAL SHUTDOWN U.S SHUTDOWN

HISTORIC US FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN The year started with a failure to reach an agreement on the congressional budget for 2019. President of the United States, Donald Trump and Congress failed to reach a compromise on including a $5.7bn border wall in the budget. The partial shutdown of the U.S government has been the longest in history breaking the record of 1995. Eight hundred thousand US government workers have missed their first payday of the year as the partial shutdown prolongs continuing to affect the lives of the workers and perhaps the economy. Employees such as white house chefs, prison guards, airport staff and FBI agents have been working without pay. The partial federal government shutdown, which began last month, is now the longest in history since 1980 as it’s on its 26 th day and counting. The standoff between the President and parliament has affected 800,000 government employees, as the opposition party has a majority in parliament refuses to include a budget for the trump border wall and wait for the president to declare a state of emergency. This would allow the president to bypass Congress and use military funds to build the wall.
