Uruguay has a large mining industry. They send exports to United States, Brazil, Argentina, China, Mexico, Russia, and Germany. Uruguay’ s GDP( gross domestic product) grew by 7 % between 2005 and 2006. In 2006, Uruguay produced many minerals that include, gold, clays, gravel, cement, iron ore, marble, and steel. The mining industry increased to $ 1.4 billion in 2006. Uruguay produced 57,000 tons of crude steel from 64,000 in 2005, which was a 10.9 % decrease. Although iron ore increased to 12,436 tons which was a 25 % increase from 2005.
