Basilica Del Sanctisimo
Basilica Del SanctÃsimo Sacramento is the oldest church in all of Uruguay. The church was built in 1680, the building structure is similar to that of a Portugal design. The first church was built out of straw and mud and dealt with a lot of attacks due to the dispute between Portugal and Spain.
La Capilla
LiFaro de Punta del Este
This beacon started functioning on Novemember 17, 1860 and was created by Tomas Libarena. The materials used to create this structure was from past volcanoes, brought from Rome. It was 43 meters high and the illumination system was brought from France.
Marco de los Reyes
In the southeast corner of this fort lies Chapel that was dedicated on February 2, 1801 by the priest Damaso de Fonseca. During the attack of the English, the chapel did not have to much damage. It is now currently preserved as a museum.
It is in the middle of the Torre del Vigia Plaza. It came from Sierra de Carapac. It was made out of white and pink marble from Lisboan, and in 1753 was used as a separation line between Spain and Portugal’ s territories.
