NJ: How did the idea of Starlight Cinema get
started?
DD: I was in Los Angeles visiting a friend and
attended a similar event called Cinespia. It was so
cool and we wanted to bring something like that to
Bismarck-Mandan.
NJ: Awesome! So, who all is involved in the
planning and development of it?
DD: Starlight Cinema is presented by D&N
Cinematics so we coordinate everything from the
projector and film licensing to t-shirts and the beer
vendor. We couldn’t make this happen without our
awesome show night volunteers and the Sleepy
Hollow staff.
NJ: What are the shows playing this
summer and what times do they play?
DD: We had our first show on June 9th with Back
to the Future.
The rest of the dates are:
August 11th - Labyrinth
Sept. 8th - Napoleon Dynamite
Sept. 30th - Rocky Horror Picture Show
NJ:Does it cost anything?
DD: Ticket are $10 for adults, $8 for students and
military and children 5 and under are free.
NJ: Did you do this last year?
DD: 2016 is the inaugural year for Starlight
Cinema.
NJ: How did you pick which movies to play?
DD: To select the movies we took a poll in the office
with people listing their favorite classic, crowdpleaser movies and narrowed it down from there.
NJ: What is your favorite movie? :)

and flourish to become an annual Bisma
