modified ingredients and ingesting too much sugar and fat sans nutrition . Also , as far as I know I ’ ve never heard of anyone getting high blood pressure , clogged arteries , salmonella , or the like from eating a lot of vegetables .
People often ask why I choose to be vegetarian or how I do it and it ’ s often difficult for me to answer . Because I ’ m not one of those Birkenstock wearing , hug a tree , I dont shave my legs kinda girl , nor a religious fanatic , for me to give a * spiritual * or * conscientious * answer seems disingenuous . I do it mainly because I need a foundation of discipline and order and I believe that starts with how you treat yourself . If you want to live well , you have to eat well .
Giving up something that I know tastes good and I ’ ve enjoyed in the past is symbolic to me that I can let go of things that I know don ’ t have positive long term results . In this fast food American life , the way things are , we all need to have that ability and discipline so we can apply it to other areas of our life where we may be self defeating or destructive . Not to mention , from the boss perspective , you will save so much money by buying unprepared foods and cooking at home rather than spending a lot to eat out and not knowing what they put in your food !
