Wonder if MLK would advocate for the current generation, if Harriet Tubman would jeopardize her life on the Underground Railroad, we act like we dont have a rich history, like we forgot the stories that we were told.
Abolitionists fought to get us all a ticket on the freedom train, we fightin' amongst each other, just to "make it rain", we have positioned ourselves to forever be slaves, taking for granted some our ancestors pain.
They died for what he have today, the ultimate price is what they paid, and shed tears from heaven, seeing how that debt is repaid.
Not to say that I absolve myself from any of their pain, it just merely to say I am cognizant of the fact we need change, Obama got elected we somehow became sustained, like that was enough to heal a legacy of angst?
Like the eradication of our race's pace is not the same?
Im not preaching for progress, Im standing in the mirror, begging the man I see to be an agent of change.
So his kids can look back with pride at what they see, head held high, proudly telling HIStory.
