Roosevelt Row culture

Expirence

Culture, the official definition, is quote, “a particular society that has its own beliefs." But that is not the only definition of the word culture is also, “The arts of a particular society." I believe that the second definition hold truer than the first on in the case of downtown phoenix, more specifically the Roosevelt Row area. This is because the artistic culture down here is a very powerful one. In the sense that very many people feel compelled to make art not just for the money also because of the satisfaction of making the artwork.

In the past whenever I would make an artwork if I were not happy with the outcome I would either throw it away or hide from everyone because I would be ashamed to present it to anyone. That is not the case here in the Roosevelt Row area because even if you are not proud of your artwork this community accepts it no matter how strange. Here is an example of a life occurrence, as I was going through art of first Friday for the second time I notice that there was one very unusual painting. The painting consisted of one black clown in the middle of a dessert on the floor. This one is not as weird as it was creepy, but there have been stranger ones. This one particular I think might affect me because I am personally freaked out by clowns and because I am a clourophist. That means I am afraid of clowns, but not to the point of panic. So when people decide to draw clowns they freak me out and I think that as strange when other wouldn’t.

Aside from that, people are allowed to have their own opinions thats just what makes us human. But our community is not like many others, our community is a carrying one. One who holds their opinions to themselves and one that is able to express themselves. And that is a community that is one of a kind, because I have never heard of a place that is so free to be themselves.
