Purpose:

The purpose of this is to try to add events in the Roosevelt row area using the vacant lots.

Roosevelt loses attraction

Problem analysis

stakeholders:

Teenagers who visit downtown they are the ones who bring in a portion of the money to some of the businesses.

People who live away from downtown phoenix, they will be the ones being impacted because this new attraction might be something that they would like to participate in and this will make people want to come by more.

Local shops are the ones that will be affected the most because if this works they will get a bigger income each month.

The people that live local would be the ones that are effected. Since this is a community project everyone will have to help so that this happens correctly.

drivers

Events in Roosevelt row are not very significant compared to first Friday. The way to find the evidence is by observation. There is little to no advertising the small events that go on, if even that.

Very little people come to the events that are being hosted in the Roosevelt Row area.

root drivers

The first driver for my magazine is the technology is rising. The reason behind this one is that because we have cars to transport us from point to point b we miss out on some of the attractions you pass.

Next, the second driver is that there we do not notice some of smaller events that go on. This is a root cause because, if we don’t notice these events we are more likely to zip by and not attend

Now the third cause is, that we are supposed to be a helpful citizen. This is considered root driver because, by being a cooperative citizen you have certain responsibilities. So you must first handle to duties before we can have fun and join some events.

Getting close to the end now, here is the fourth root driver, events cost money. That being said if you do not have the funding then you cannot have certain events because they do cost some money.

And finally the final root driver, is that being outside is very unpredictable. By this I mean that

Because we do not go is outside we cannot control what will happen, It is very dangerous.

Vision statement:

The vision for this project is to put the vacant lots to use. By this you

Summary of stakeholders visions:

I have only talked to a couple of stakeholders, but that will change today. But the portion that I talked to said that they would like to see more greenery in place of the empty lots, others said that they would like a place to hang out with their friends, so that it is not as crowded like it is in Starbucks. So that they do not take up space that is provided to customers.

Vision.

1 year, now in the year 2015 we have barely gotten approval from the city. We have needed approval in order to be able to use the vacant lots to host local events. You can see the people literally working to put this in order. At first we thought that this project would not have been super popular in the beginning but we kept at it. The reason behind our thinking is that it wasn’t very public. But thankfully after a few weeks, now we have the enough publicity to say that it has been successful. We all have a vision of our own, but mine is to make it as successful, smaller and more regular than first Friday. A big part of first Friday is the food that they have. But since the project is still brand new almost no one would like to change their secure spot of on that might be a long shot. But, there also have been some things that have not changed, such as the smell. It the same with before no change except a little sweat in the air but that is understandable because of the desert and all.

5 year, well now the checkpoint for year five has come. Now five years after we have successfully publicized the events we are able. Well now that more people come by we’ve started to get a feeling of how this will be in the future. Gladly now there has been people willing to come and sell food to the people. But we do get various amounts of themes to show such as video games or various art genres. Not only that but you can also hear more people talking about the activities and other subject that come up. They are engaging like this purpose of this project is supposed to do. Now some generous people have funded us to be able to add more attractions like a place to just be with your friends or start up a conversation with people that you’ve never meet. This is a very great community project that has thankfully gone to the right side. And this, I mean, was not a waste of time and money, and this community has successfully come closer.

36 years after we started the project of hosting event on vacant lots. Now we can fully see how much we have grown. As you can see here it is no longer just the vacant lots that are taking up space it has expanded to some shops staying permanent like some shops from first Friday. But, now food trucks still come in so we get a variety of flavor in the block. From hot dogs to crème Brule and from seafood to pie. You can also hear tons a tons of conversations happening around; such as the banter of laughing, yelling to get attention, and plain straight up talking. But why do people come you might be thinking? And the answer to that is simple to make connects with others. Simple as that.
