Urban Grandstand Digital Volume 2, Issue 2 [Savvy Girl Money Edition] | Page 58

U.G. Digital Mag: Talk about the EP, and the process of putting it together?

JR: The EP is called ‘From Nothing to Something”. I’m working on singles right now. I have a track called “Welcome to the Game”, a track called “85 to 95” with Peter Jackson. I’m trying to get Karl Wolf on s song as well, and working with Justina Valentine. She’s a very talented girl. I’m trying to get Omarion on there, and definitely see where it takes me.

U.G. Digital Mag: You started by talking about the album a little more, and all that’s going into it?

JR: I started it about 2-3 years ago. I started the company, and figured I’m do something cool by combining magic and music. It’s been from the ground up, doing my research, and getting everything solid. Putting all the pieces together.

U.G. Digital Mag: I think it’s dope. As far as labels, so much has changed. So many artists are more along the lines of realizing their own projects. Long gone are the days they are eager to sign to someone. What will make them want to be a part of this as opposed to doing their own thing?

JR: The big thing with my label is we don’t just give you magic and music. We can do bigger shows like Vegas, and network a lot more.

U.G. Digital Mag: When I see the whole concept,I think it would be a benefit for people to work and collaborate with you. Would everyone involved be in that music/magic mixture, or whats your idea with that?

JR: They become magical, but only to a certain point.

U.G. Digital Mag: I think it’s dope. I like to see new things, and experience new things in music. This is hot, and I’ve always been to see illusionists. It’s still early, but what about a residency of some sort?

JR: I would love it. My goal is to do a big Vegas tour and performance where we can broadcast all our artists and products. I think people would dig that.

U.G. Digital Mag: Definitely.

JR: I would love to show the what we can do. I think we could be one of the top guys there.

U.G. Digital Mag: I’m excited. Are any dates set for the EP?

JR: Right now, it’s just posted as summer. We don’t have an exact release date? Just stay posted to my social media.

U.G. Digital Mag: I’m glad to see you’re collaborating with people. Peter Jackson is really dope. We’ve connected with him before. You’re doing a lot to boost hip-hop in Toronto, and I’m excited to see it continue and grow. What’s your show schedule look like right now?

JR: I’m doing a show in July in Toronto, and TDotFest in September.

U.G. Digital Mag: I think a lot of people will be anticipating your album. Where can everyone check you out online?

JR: I’m on Facebook.com/righteouswords, Instagram.com/righteouswordsrecords, and www,righteouswordsrecords.com

U.G. Digital Mag: I think it’s so hot man. Any final words at all?

JR: Righteous Words Records is magic and music, and people looking into becoming a future artist, hit me up. To the artists out there, work hard. It’s people out there doing big things. Any new artists, bring it hard, complete your shit, and get on the radio.
