Chitoka Light

"[The biggest lesson] .. is that you can't just talk about it ... you have to be about it"

Getting to know Chitoka Light, it’s clear to see she’s no different than you an I. The same way we deal with struggles in life, she experiences the same. Her struggle, as lived out on the TLC reality show Family by the Ton, was her weight. Chitoka’s weight has ultimately consumed her life, leaving her in a state where she hasn’t been able to function like most of us. As chronicled on the series, Chitoka has lived an extended period from the confines of her bed, being too large to move around, let alone get out of the house.

The goal of the series was to show her life leading up to having gastric bypass surgery. We were blessed with an opportunity to connect with Chitoka, and her story is truly amazing. We talk not only about the struggle her weight has provided but also the struggle of change, and deciding if surgery would be the right decision. You certainly don’t want to miss this exclusive…

U.G. Digital Mag: This is an awesome experience. Thank you for your time. I know a lot is going on. How has everything been since the season has ended?

Chitoka Light: Because it was a transformation show, we couldn’t do a lot of promo beforehand. Since it is over, we’ve been able to do things. I’m just a normal person sharing my story, but it’s been a little surreal.

U.G. Digital Mag: It had to be a lot for you. I think it was good for people to see the transformation and what you went through. People have wondered through the show how you’ve handled it all. I, myself, have dealt with weight my entire life. I’ve been above 300lbs, and lost, gained, and whatnot. People still wonder how it gets to the point of you being the size you were?
