Straight Outta Compton
has quickly become one of the most epic films of
our time. Telling the story of legendary rap group
NWA, the film quickly took off at the box office
and shattered records in a way that could have
never been predicted. Featuring a stream of powerful actors playing the roles of Eazy E, Ice Cube
and Dr. Dre, Straight Outta Compton gave us a first
hand glimpse at what it was like for these young
men to push the envelope and work to establish
themselves in the music industry, all while fighting
overt racism and so much more.
Fans were also able to learn a little more about
DJ Yella & The D.O.C., who both played a tremendous part in the success of the group. We recently
were granted he opportunity to speak with Marlon Yates, Jr., who played the role of The D.O.C..
He opens up to us about how he was able to prepare for the role, as well as the new things that are
now coming into play because of how well he did
in the film. His popularity in film has literally catapulted to new heights since the debut and there’s
no sign of things slowing down.
