We’re trying to get rid of that negative crap and put that in the garbage where it belongs.

Urban Grandstand Digital: I love the fact that you’re still doing reality. i don’t think ALL reality is bad, but much of what’s out there can stand to change.

Sara Stokes: Not all of it is bad. There are some shows I’ve seen lately that make you cry because you didn’t realize what some people were going through. It makes you appreciate the people more. Some of it is very positive.

Urban Grandstand Digital: I like that you’re working with Nicci Gilbert. I think she’s good, and doesn’t get enough shine for all the things she does.

Sara Stokes: I’ve been a fan of her since Brownstone. She’s a person who speaks her mind, and I love that. That’s me as well.

You won’t silence me on something I really believe in, and if I feel like I’m entitled then I'm speaking up.. I’m just as entitled as the next person. She’s got a great heart as well. I’ve seen her tear up and get into the moment with some of the scenes we’ve done. She’s very intuitive.

Urban Grandstand Digital: In terms of Da Band, are you still in contact with them?

Sara Stokes: We definitely do talk. I just talked to Chopper the day before yesterday. I kicked it with him for a good minute, and he’s on the same page. Forget the stupid stuff. He’s grown up a lot.

Urban Grandstand Digital: He was so cool all the times I talked to him.

Sara Stokes: He’s always been really cool, but I talk to everyone. Dylan and Freddy P. I speak to him the most [Freddy P.]. It’s all love, and it’s where I came from. We went through some stuff. Three seasons, the Dave Chappelle skit, and us making an album, being thrown together and not knowing each other at the time. That’s my family.

Urban Grandstand Digital: Now have you been working as an Esthetician? What happens in that world now that you’re back to making music.

Sara Stokes: Actually, it all comes in together. Make up and skin care, it all ties in with the industry.

Urban Grandstand Digital: So you guys really paved the way for a lot of reality shows that followed. What advice would you give to someone else looking to get established, maybe even with reality tv?

Sara Stokes: If you surround yourself with good people, you can’t lose. Don’t always follow the crowd. When I got into the business, i was me. I’m not singing about shoot em up, bang bang, because that’s not me. Be yourself. In the end, it’s just going to be you. It's a struggle, and it’s hard work, but if it's easy I don’t want it.
