hen you take a moment to think of the best comics that have done it, you can't say much without mentioning Comedian Michael Colyar. Colyar has been a mainstay in comedy for nearly three decades, and he continues to get better and better with each performance.
Michael Colyar first came to fame when he won the $100,000 grand prize comedy competition on Star Search. For him, that was only the beginning of his hard work beginning to pay off. He was later named the "King of Venice Beach", after nearly a decade of performing 5 shows each day. In addition, Colyar appeared regularly on comedy shows like BET's Comicview, Def Comedy Jam, and he was the original host of BET Live from LA. Colyar has appeared in a laundry list of films, beginning with 1987's Hollywood Shuffle. Many also remember Colyar for voicing the character Buford from Disney's The Princess & The Frog! His most recent film was the action flick 'Diamond Ruff'.
Along with all that he has been a part of, including his own radio show, Colyar has also been touring regularly to perfom stand-up comedy. That actually is what prompted this feature with Urban Grandstand Digital. Colyar is here in Cleveland, performing at the Cleveland Improv. It goes without saying that everything Michael Colyar is about professionally falls in line with what we focus on here at Urban Grandstand Digital. Michael sat down and talked with us briefly before one of the 5 shows he's perfoming here in the city, and we got his personal take on following his dreams and the life he's living.
