CFRC Housing and Homelessness Policy and Market Analysis
Research that investigates the operation of housing market processes , evaluates policy impacts on identified housing problems , and informs policy solutions
Research Centre
Falling homeownership rates , stressed rental housing affordability , and rising homelessness are symptomatic of Australia ’ s underperforming housing system . The researchers on this team investigate the changing nature and extent of such problems and the scope for policy reforms that could contribute to their possible resolution .
This work encompasses the governance , financing , and development of social and affordable housing , the analysis of housing affordability , and the operation of private housing markets .
The research centre works with governments , not-for-profits , and companies to identify housing and homelessness policy challenges and shape innovations that address them . Its work is also informed by strong connectivity with academic and industry contacts across Australia and comparator countries .
The researchers also contribute to national policy debates by popularising their research findings in short articles for a non-expert readership and through extensive interaction with news media and policymakers .
