Perhaps you remember Givenchy from the runway, or Vogue or your favorite fashion trendsetters but do you really know what happens behind Givenchy’s walls? Givenchy has inspired many second level chain clothing stores, such as First Class Clothing, a brand flowering designs inspired by Givenchy. (India Westbrooks is wearing their pants below)The name itself evokes glamour, refined elegance, simplicity, and style. He’s known for his use of bold colors. It is owned by luxury group LVMH and in 1993 achieved a total sales worth of $176 million, making it the second largest apparel division of LVMH after Dior.

Hubert de Givenchy was born to an aristocratic family in Beauvais, France, on February 21, 1927. He began working for several important fashion designers in Paris. In 1952, he opened his own design house and was immediately praised for his chic, lady-like designs. Givenchy's most famous client was Audrey Hepburn, who wore his designs in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
